Sounds awful? No
This is a live recording that sounds full of awe. Once heard you will want it in your collection, however many other versions you may have access to. For everyday listening, perhaps Zacharias or Uchida; for special occassions, Curzon, Cooper, Perahia, Fleisher or Klien (Vox on eMusic); for dancing on the edge of the abyss, Richter. No one else (for me) captures the essence of this sonata, of affirming the value of beauty in the face of death. Harrowing and wonderful; no one who has really listened to this can think man is just a megalomaniac ape. Please listen. THIS RECORDING CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
