A tight infusion of progressive rock and solid metal riffs, Symphony X sounds like a combination of Dream Theater and Ronnie James Dio-fronted Black Sabbath (RIP). Russell Allen's amazing four-octave range grinds up from G below low C to soar to F# above tenor high C! This is my first Sym X album; it will not be my last! Great stuff, especially The End of Innocence and Dehumanized--both wrenching, "man vs. machine" screaming curses.
