Mutiny Sunshine
I met these two in Louisville, KY at Uncle Pleasants. Superb artists with a great sound! Two Apple laptops set into motion a series of prerecorded ethereal tracks mostly comprised of melodic keyboard strokes and tweaks accented by guitar strums. The duo then layers live acoustics over the existing background. Innovative percussion gives a significant 'now-ness' to the performance. A hauntingly melodic viola softens the hard edge of live percussion perfectly. The track 'Indian Angel' contains a distinctly Asian string instrument. I was told that it was the only "non-generated" sound sampled on the album. Finding this band was a wonderful surprise. They opened for 'Clap Your Hands Say Yeah' and 'The National'.
