Early TD

Folkstone57

I have a couple of CD's with similar tracks, but this is probably the best complete collection of the early music of TD. What I like best of these is the retrospective you get, a way to see the progress & evolution of a great band. If you're new to TD you may not really like these tracks, but if you've been around the group for a while, this isn't to be missed.

Tangerine Dream's - The Anthology is a dream

killinn

I love the tracks chosen. I enjoy electronic music as a whole and have been looking for some TD for some time. I have to give this a big thumbs up.

The Ones?

keithc

Fifth attempt at editing this!. My first thought: What the hell are these two tracks doing here? But they are a pre-TD band - and sound very different!

Enjoyable

thatway57

I was a bit doubtful about this at first as I am not a great fan of compilations and this seemed a fairly uneven set but it all hangs together remarkedly well. A very enjoyable listen and one that I would recommend from this great group.

Not Ultima...

wattsup

This is a truly odd compilation, but is worth it for the two tracks from the Ultima Thule single. Rare as hens teeth, these two tracks are wonderful, and prove that the Tangs we up there with the best Krautrocker's in the day. However, if the Tangs you like is wispy new age synth soundscapes you probably want the rest of this rather odd album. If you like the Ultima Thule tracks and have a passion for Faust, Can and Amon Duul please do yourself a favour and check out the A.R. and Machines album 'The Green Journey' that was recently added to eMusic, it's a classic slice of Krautrock from 1971!

Who Are…Prince Rama

By Richard Gehr, Contributor

The Larson sisters met third Prince Rama co-founder Michael Collins while living in the world's large largest Hare Krishna community and attending high school in Alachua, Florida. The trio's self-described "Blink 182 rip-off band" evolved into something much more ambitiously eccentric once Taraka Larson moved to Boston in 2005 to attend the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Prince Rama of Ayodhya (named after the seventh avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu and later… more »

Who Is…Oneohtrix Point Never

By Marissa G. Muller, Contributor

Despite his stoner demeanor, Oneohtrix Point Never's Daniel Lopatin is as thoughtful in conversation as he is on tape. His abstract synthpop outfit's sixth full-length, Replica, is built from snippets of '80s commercials, gauzy loops and an almost-scientific curiosity about what music is. Though he says they're mostly improvised, Lopatin's instrumental meditations feel deliberate. Using DVD compilations of old ads as opposed to user-directed YouTube searches for specific words, Lopatin sought out to create Replica… more »
