Who knew guitars could whisper while they chime?

Also--a cure for indie-whatever complacency using the usual tools with an unusual mind that's all about glancing ginger taps on membranous things. This so could be twee, or second generation Low or something you could describe but instead it's fingers on new strings shimmery. And the voice--the voice is air with just the tiniest push to make the notes agree to be notes. Remarkable.

It's hard to stay focused on one particular sound and not get boring. Tara Jane O'neill manages to pull it off in this effort. Great piece of work!

Best Tara Jane so far..

I especially love track 3, 'drowning'. This disc gets better with every listen. Moody, soulful, meaty. Excellent disc!

Since her recorded debut with Rodan in 1994, she's officially been a member of Drinking Woman, the Sonora Pine, Retsin and the King Cobra, and collaborated with everyone from Sebadoh to Michael Hurley. Over the past decade, she's also made a string of tender, meditative solo records… more »
