Dark Roots of the Earth by Testament

NonDescriptMotorist

There's a lot of energy on this album and it's well produced, well played and sounds good for that. Unfortunately, there's nothing that really stands out ... it's a little like Formation of the Damned in that respect, to me at least. POW, it's thrashy and sounds like good ol' Testament and there's range on the abulm like SoB and PWYP. I wanted to like it but there's not anything that's gonna stay on my playlists. -- Rise Up would be a highlight if it weren't an obvious crowd song: the lyrics are literally, "when I say rise up, you say WAR" and then he goes on to say rise up a couple of times. Testament is awesome but unfortunately, this doesn't bring as much to the table as, say, Tempo of the Damned did with Exodus. -- Amazing live band.

ONCE AGAIN..............

USNRET

AN OLD THRASHER SHOWS THE YOUNGANS JUST HOW TO THRASH!!! Amazing cd full of 9 KILLERnew songs, 3 KILLER covers (Queen/Scorpians/Iron Maiden) and an extended version of a new KILLER song. Much less gutteral vocals this time out, reminiscent of days of old. Incredible song writing and execution. Metal release of the year, IMHO!!
