Sigh....
Love the sound for the sound's sake, but there's just not enough there to pull me in. Maybe a little too mellow.

I'm not sure what I just heard, but it definitely is different.
i love it and came back for the rest of the album
I think we need to decide on a strong definition of "psychedelic rock." This ain't no Electric Prunes. "Journey to the Center of your Navel?"
There is a reason they are the 'also-rans' in the Alt/punk/cheese dept. It's like a bad james Taylor record recorded by a jingle singer. That single will be a great Burger King commercial. Proximo!
You know how in The Catcher in the Rye Holden Caulfield says that when you read a great book, it makes you wish you could talk to the author? That's how I feel about this great, great album. The only bad thing about this album is that it came out in October. I had a whole lazy summer of barbecues without this music to accompany them. I blame the band.
These days, there aren't many albums that I can listen to straight through without wanting to skip a single song, but this is one of them. It's absolutely fantastic from start to finish, top to bottom. I have yet to see this band perform live, but now I'm DYING to catch a live show more than ever! This is one of my top five favorite albums of 2007 thuse far.
The more I listen to this band, the more I love them. If you liked their E.P., you'll love this. It's more of the same, just better. The harmonies are lovely to hear and there's just a feel good vibe to the whole thing.
This album is full of great songs. The lyrics are interesting, and the band's sound just hooks me in. I love the layered vocals and keyboard with the violin riffs. The 1900s capture the Indie Pop vibe but with more of a folk feel on a lot of songs. The influences are broad and integrated well. The songwriting, musicianship, and production are absolutely first rate. I saw this band live, and my only criticism of the album is that it doesn't quite capture the energy of their live performance. To me, that's more of a sign that there is even better to come. Yeah, I'm a fan!
When I Say Go is darned catchy, but although this genre is not generally my cup of tea I must say I hear a lot of The Mamas & the Papas in the rest...
