WONDERFUL!...HOWEVER

AMWinSF

The Baltimore Consort have recorded the "leftovers" in this collection, songs that hadn't made it onto other CD's, so it's an interesting mix of tunes from several time periods. It has on it a tune called "Well Hall" which I think ranks in my top five beautiful melodies of all time. As always with the Baltimore Consort, the arrangements are wonderful, the playing perfect, the engineering outstanding, HOWEVER… Only ONE of tracks meets the MIMIMUM industry standard, or 192 kbps, for quality digital music downloads. Track 14 has a bit rate of 192 kbps. The bit rate of the rest of the tracks ranges from 157 to 186 kbps. eMusic needs to deal with its serious quality control problem: the poor quality of the downloads on this album is NOT an aberration, and one should seriously consider wasting 12 credits on downloads of such poor quality.

They Say All Music Guide

The Baltimore Consort returns with a British Isles focus on their album Tunes From the Attic. As is characteristic of their performances, whether ballads such as “Oh, How Happy’s He” or a wide-ranging variety of instrumentals employing bagpipes, cittern, recorder and wooden flute, or (as with “Joyne Hands”) treble viol, they bring clarity and exemplary skill to their work. Fans of both classical and Renaissance music are sure to appreciate this release. – Murrday Fisher
