A forgotten gem
I bring up bands like the Blue Nile when people tell me how awful the 80s were. While of its time, it holds up pretty well, particularly in today's "then is now" aesthetic put forward by bands like M83 or Cut Copy. The arrangements are appealingly sparse, unusual and very well played (no Pro Tools then, kids). I had this on LP years ago, and it always sounded well produced. This stands up well with bands like Talk Talk or solo acts like David Sylvian. Easter Parade is quite beautiful. I'll always have a special place for Tinseltown in the Rain as well.
