what kind of BS is emusic trying to sell us? a couple of months after I sign up for a year subscription they give me the shaft.

Why?

e.s.c.

Why does emusic even sell shoddy re-recordings? Just purge the catalog of them.

Beware Re-recordings!

Horrible, perhaps a suitable present for someone you don't like or for a tone deaf person. Milan, I don't think the artists get a cent from this as it is the publishers and the record labels that get paid. I am sure the Chi Lites hate this even more than their fans do!

Shouldn't be allowed!!!

I listened to the clip of 'Give More Power to the People' and was horrified as to what I heard. A classic soul track ruined!!! I'll echo the previous reviewers of this CD. If your a Chi-Lites fan don't download this. It's one of this CD's where tracks have a 'karaoke' style sound. It's real shame CD's like this are put out.

Don't bother

I agree with Milan. Stick with the originals. You should listen to all tracks before you download otherwise you will regret it.

Dreadful re-recordings of classic songs

Milan

The originals are soul classics - these feeble, contemporary re-recordings sound horrendous, and they're clearly a cheap attempt at cashing-in by the artists. Seek out the originals, but avoid this at all costs!

They Say All Music Guide

A hit compilation marred by the omissions of “Lonely Girl,” “Toby,” and others, in favor of “I Found Sunshine” (yawn) and “Homely Girl,” a song better suited for the Statler Brothers. Contains an abbreviated “We Are Neighbors,” which is good since the album version was too long. It’s amazing how “I Want to Pay You Back” finds its way onto nearly every Chi-lite compilation album, they even do it on a live LP and in their concerts. But why? It’s OK, but definitely not all that great; better Chi-Lites cuts are languishing on albums. The classics “Oh Girl,” “(For God’s Sakes) Give More Power to the People,” “Stoned out of My Mind,” “Letter to Myself,” and two versions of “Have You Seen Her” are as compelling as ever. – Andrew Hamilton
