Misnomer
Not 'The Croppy Box' but 'The Croppy Boy,' a song that becomes one of the many motifs in James Joyce's Ulysses

The Clancy Brothers were real popular around New York City and Boston back in the 70s when "The Troubles" as the English like to call the bloody battles that have been waging off and on for 500 years in Northern Ireland were pretty troublesome. So it really shocked the hell out of me to be hearing pro-English ballads, raised like I was by Irish priests and refugees. I guess they're just musicians and aren't trying to make statements about the lyrics, since they cover both sides of the "debate". The music is great. On an A-political note, "Moonshine" is my favorite, I have become annoyingly fond of quoting "And if moonshine don't kill me, I'll live till I die."
