This album is considered as ambient but the bass is just phenomenal and there is no attempt at soulfulness. However it is indeed a wonderful listen but not in the 'ambient' sense, it's good to crank up the volume and sit some bricks on top of your speakers to stop them bouncing around! File under Dub....
One of the more terrifying moments I've ever had came whilst watching HIA play a live set at Glastonbury '95. Hearing "...they have concealed the vital evidence, for the reasons for your existence..." at that volume, in those conditions, was quite heavy, indeed. A truly brilliant record. Also check out their stuff with Biosphere.
Both HIA releases are quintessential Techno albums. Any Techno enthusiast would be remissed if they did not have these in their collection.
Spectral and Speedlearn. Both excellent. This is one of my favourite alvums of the 90's.
If you haven't heard this release than your head must have been in the sand throughout the 90's.. One of the greatest bleepy ambient dub albums of all time..
