Nice!

melmacmpf

A band that reminds me of Mclusky and Modest Mouse all at the same time can't be bad at all! Maybe it will grow on me.

The Mae Shi make me believe

andresrios

I just want to say that the Mae Shi are a newer discovery of mine (2008) and I have fallen in love with hillyh. Just an absolutely amazing album from start to finish! I can't imagine the next album sounding any better than this, but hopefully I can be proven wrong. Go Mae Shi Go is all I can say. These guys are amazing.

a tremendous leap forward

sweetness-and-noise

before this album, the mae shi were one of the bands that friends thought i should like, based on my general musical tastes, but i could never really get into them. this album completely turned that around, though... i like the new vocalist better, and the album is much more melodic and focused than their past work, while still remaining edgy & challenging. well done. my favorite album of 2008, in fact!

A Colorful Blast of Fun

MeetTheMets

One of my favorites of 2008 so far. This sounds like a band willing to give absolutely everything it has to making sure it has the most exciting music around. So many layers, harmonies, so much energy, and tons of great hooks and original ideas. I'm a sucker for great pop moments, and this band has a million of them, but in new and surprising combinations.

Pushing against the preconceptions of La La Land perpetuated by shows like The Hills and Entourage -- which… more »
