It Doesn't Get Any Better

RJ-in-Texas

The masterful and precise harmony of this quartet has had me in their corner since I first heard of them, but this album simply blew me away and remains an all-time favorite. From the incredibly emotional "A World Apart" to the immaculately performed and intricate "What Goes Around Comes Around," this collection shows the true capabilities of this finely tuned troupe. The first number/title song alone would be enough--and it only gets better from there. And if you don't find yourself tapping your toes with "Confide in Me" then you may want to find an ER to confirm you still have a central nervous system.

For Me, Their Best

Angelojohn

This music contains MT original music and is perhaps more arty than most of their others, in which they interpret others' tunes in their Lambert, Hendricks & Rossian way. If you like the samples you will probably enjoy the entire CD. This one has never gotten old for me.

Incredible Performances

DJwaters

I love this group and have had the joy of catching them in concert once. Their voices are blessed and they show it in so many styles. Gentleman with a Family is one of my favorite songs on here.

Simply Amazing

Rackitycoon

I first heard the title track on the radio and fell in love with it. Then I found the album and fell in love with that too. At times snazzy (Offbeat of Avenues, Blue Serenade), at times sultry (10 Minutes Till the Savages Come), now quiet and sorrowful (Gentleman with a Family), now bright and hopeful (Confide in Me). This album runs the emotional gauntlet and does them all quite well. I will admit that the final track, Blues for Pablo, took me a while to warm up to. The odd rhythms and discordant sounds made it a jarring departure from the feel of the rest of the album. But that seems to be part and parcel of its message and with each listening it sounds more right to me.

Manhattan Transfer versatility

TampaGrampa

An excellent example of the versatility of Manhattan Transfer although fans of some of their earlier work may not relate well to all of the songs in this album.
