brings back some good memories

classic music from your youth sometimes doesn't have the same flavor when you come back to it...especially 30 years later. this record does have that, and now that i have matured, it also has a little more i can appreciate. all the studio tracks on this album are great, evoking that kind of feeling you get from watching the sun go down while sitting back and having a cold one, or getting up and dancing. i have to admit that the live tracks remind me how annoying some live performances can be, but the album as a whole is still great.

A Pot Of Gold At The End Of This Rainbow

The Marshall Tucker Band was not your typical Southern Rock band. In fact that label robs them of the respect they deserve. They were excellent at melding together various elements of country, rock, jazz, and r&b. "Searchin' For A Rainbow" is excellent example of how successful that formula could work. "Fire On The Mountain" and "Virginia" are two of my all-time favorites from their extensive catalog.

Great Southern Rock!

I really enjoy MTB. This album was probably their most popular but Fire On the Mountain was the real lynch pin here. Definitely worth a listen.

I'm from Spartanburg, SC. 'The Marshall Tucker Band' was born here. They started out as 'The Toy Factory'. Most of my senior high school class(Dorman) boycotted our prom, because we voted to have 'The Toy Factory' as the band. It got shot down. We went to the club(The Ruins) where they were playing that night. I got out of the army in June of '73. I saw The Marshall Tucker Band at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium on Christmas 1973, and again in 1983 when they did a 10 year reunion concert.

With Searchin’ for a Rainbow, The Marshall Tucker Band retreats somewhat from the grittier sounds of Where We All Belong without abandoning their country and blues roots. – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
