Slightly different, but still good.

Don't be underwhelmed by the vocals. Once you actually move beyond listening to samples, the singing adds a new dimension to the overall sound and structure of the songs. Before long you'll find yourself chanting along with the gang vocals and wondering why the band waited so long to incorporate this element into their sound. Most important, many of the songs are very good; check out: On The Border, Walk In these Shoes, and Can You Get IT?, which is the best of the bunch. Two mellower cuts--Passport and Up In The Air bring a swinging 60's vibe that's irresistibly groovy. Finally, as always, this band is the funkiest thing on 8 legs.

I found the previous album to be a bit of a let down, back on the right track.

One of the dopest neuvo deep soul bands out there has taken on a jazz tone. While their early sound was clearly influenced by funk pioneers The Meters, TNMS have grown into more of a soul jazz groove a la Grant Green and Boogaloo Joe Jones. Even more important, they've updated that classic sound with a contemporary sound. Sure, you can still hear that New Orleans swing throughout but the song writing is more polished. Anyway, only complaint is that this ended up categorized as Rock/Pop?!
