Better produced than their debut, We Came to Play continues what became a formula for The Persuasions — covering ’50s and ’60s classics (the latter most usually taken from the Motown and Curtis Mayfield portfolios), the occasional Tin Pan Alley standard, and judiciously chosen pop/rock covers.
