Excellent collaboration and collection
First, the Artist is not any one ensemble called “The Revels”, but is the organization described here: http://www.revels.org/about-us/. More than half of the tracks here are led by featured guest folk singing celebrities such as John Roberts, Tony Barrand, Louis Killen, and David Coffin. But even the tracks with just Revels members are excellent too. Like most Revels productions, some tracks are a capella, some are accompanied with instruments, some solo voice, and some with a chorus. There is an enjoyable variety. This is also a good source of songs to learn for our next shanty sing. Some are standards, though some I have not found elsewhere . Some might be known by different titles. For example, the one listed here as “Noah’s Ark” might be known as “A Long Time Ago”, and the one listed here is “Run the Riggin’ Again” might be known as “When I Was A Fair Maid” or “The Sailor Maid”.
