I love the guitar sound. Ropers remind me of Lilys (in their middle period guitar pop, after they stopped trying to sound like MBV but before they became the Kinks) or Monsterland. It's fuzzy, and it jangles sometimes, and it's propulsive. Dig it. Great album art, too.
An essential Slumberland Records band makes a late career appearance with Teenbeat (and I believe Little Teddy in Germany for vinyl). Something about the production of this gets me fired up. Vocals trying to fight through a wash of sound like shoegaze or the Slumberland fuzz pop records (Boyracer and Henry's Dress), but clean toned like the later Unrest records. Contemporary to Velocity Girl, with members moving on to Saturday People (now there's a Slumberland classic). Wonderful wonderful.
