This Is Not the Runaways

TnTTaylor1955

This is like listening to a bad remaster of your favorite band, and you don't even know the songs. Look further on eMusic there is lots of downloadable Runaways here.

Young & Fast - better than the originals.

Eris_Heisenberg

No Joan Jett? So f***ing what? She couldn't write a decent song to save her life; the ONLY good stuff she ever produced were her covers. No Lita Ford? Buy a Lita Ford album. That's how I found this band. I listened to ALL of this band's tracks offered here on emusic, and these are the only worthwhile ones. While I'm not a big fan of post-1971 Punk, this album has some good tracks (I especially like "Afraid of the Dark", and "Sexy People" - which has hilarious lyrics). It's like sniveling about re-recordings of hit songs, sometimes they're BETTER than the originals. Admittedly, this is rarely the case, but with this incarnation of the Runaways, it's certainly true. Listen to the music without preconceptions; you just might be amazed at what you hear.

Rip-Off Band - Do Not Buy!

Satyrblade

Not only is the band featured NOT the original Runaways, it is a band created to steal from that group's legacy. When Joan Jett's band dumped Kim Fowley, he retained the rights to the Runaways name. As Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Mikki Steele went on to further success in the 1980s, Fowley recruited a new pack of unknowns to record under that name. Marketing the band under the now-familiar name, Fowley had hoped to capitalize on the original Runaways' credibility. The album posted here is the result. (For more details, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Fowley) All albums by the REAL Runaways can be found on amazon.com. Although I'm a tried-and-true EMusic supporter (and customer), I have to point this out. Dear EMusic: please get the REAL Runaways in your catalog! If you can't, please at least take this page down - it's an insult to the real artists and their fans.

NOT The Runaways with Joan Jett

billberryblues

Fan of the 1970s Hollywood all-girl band the Runaways that featured Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Cherrie Currie? Then don't buy this cd. NOT the real thing.
