Neither Special Nor Fun

thechessdoctor

These are not the original recordings of the Specials or the Fun Boy Three. Very Disappointing. I had had hoped to have the songs that were such a blast from the early 80s. Do not waste your money on this.

DECEPTIVE

Muse8

This is deceptive advertising! The title leads one to expect the original songs. Instead, one gets re-recordings. Whether you like these versions or not, the album should be clearly marked as a set of re-recordings.

I agree

Don't waste your downloads. Get the originals.

not bad, but not what your expecting

Lenslad

I downloaded Message to you, the energy level is kind of down from what you expect although there is a pretty good ska-ish troumbone solo.

new fun

These are fresher versions of the songs I loved in the 80s. If you only want to hear the old ones - probably don't want these.

Are you a fan?

This is, according to others, just a re-recording of classic tracks by Neville Staples. To me it is a re-interpretation of Specials and Fun Boy Three songs by one of the founding members of both. If you like, think of it as a sort of re-mix album where every song is given a modern dance beat! (That makes me sound old!) If you are not a fan and want the original recordings go to www.find-cd.co.uk but if you already have the original albums and aren't afraid of new versions of the old songs download away!

RIP OFF

THESE ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL RECORDINGS! This record is a bunch of re-recordnings by singer Neville Staple. Don't waste your downloads.

They Say All Music Guide

Very Best of the Specials and Fun Boy Three will no doubt lure more than a few unsuspecting listeners with its classic checkered jacket and instantly recognizable playlist, but a closer look at the cover will provide listeners with an important clue as to the collection’s content. This “unofficial” greatest-hits collection which “features Neville Staples” is filled with re-recordings. Staples, a member of both the Specials and Fun Boy Three, is the sole connection to the tunes and provides his own interpretations. – James Christopher Monger
