Sonics

The VU made the guitars sound so easy, yet so so difficult to replicate. The vocals are pretty bad as well.

Amazing Covers

musicmoggy

This live recording is the best since Phish covered 'Loaded'. Forgiving the mis-placed pop chasing inclusion of 'Walk on the Wildside' this is true a VU-like live renditions complete with distinctive VU guitar sound and Reed/Cale like vocals. The audience participation the slightly off beat cover of 'Satellite Of Love' is touching.

They Say All Music Guide

The title says it all: Spaceland and Part Time Punks Present: The Spires as the Velvet Underground is a live album recorded at a one-off gig on April Fools Day 2007, where the Los Angeles-based duo of guitarist Jason Bays and drummer Colleen Coffey (with a second guitarist and bassist on hand to complete the picture) played a full set of Velvet Underground covers. It’s a cute idea for a night out. – Stewart Mason
