Record of Small Histories, the debut album from the Timeout Drawer, offers an ambient take on space-rock. With a somewhat formulaic repetition of swelling/fading drones, melodic lines, and weaving percussion lines, the music doesn’t quite grab you. However, if you let it sink into the background and wash over you, it is a soothing and pleasant moog soup. Things get a little more interesting on the tracks with vocals, but this recording shows a band that needs to take more chances and explore new territory. – Stacia Proefrock
