He gets points for trying, but these songs can't cut it. Obviously he likes NMH, but his voice doesn't reach the intensity or emotional level Mangum's does effortlessly. This little collection of songs is still pretty essential to any NMH lover, so get em and try em yourself. I don't think anyone who didn't love that band would be looking at this page otherwise.
really, this li'l gem makes the e-music subscription worth while. the almost ambiant mixing of instruments layered somewhere underneath vocals somehwere between Leon Redbone and Jim Henson tell me that the viking moses really seem to GET what the songs are about, you know? this kind of tribute to Jeff Mangum truly needed to be on e-music, transcending beyond those obscure tape-trade circles, and is a real testament to the staggering amounts of countless home recorders that NMH has inspired. so thanks for that guys.
