Like the tides, the Waterboys return

Mike Scott has produced some of the seminal songs of my life. This album represents a return to form for him and the members of The Waterboys. With four songs clocking in at over six minutes, he takes his time to fully explore each theme. Only three complete plays so far but I know it will join such favorites as "Fisherman's Blues". "Let it Happen", "We are Jonah", "Malediction" and "Crown" are stand out tracks. Welcome back Scott & Co.

A Brief Return to Form

Mike Scott & Co. haven't sounded anywhere near this good since, and after the spiritually/musically schizoid mess that WAS Dream Harder this was a nice comeback. It ain't on the level of the 1st 4 albums, but it's a fascinating concept album (follow the distortion, reflect on yr C.S. Lewis collection, and you'll figure it out). And "We Are Jonah"ll stick in yr head and not come back out.
