Beyond cult

gussygoose

This Cd puts all the folk music that followed into context. It's essential, really, if you're at all interested in folk roots. As cod from Stockholm says, a "cult classic"....but also of great general interest.

the watersons are one of englands great musical families and rightly famous for their unaccompanied harmony vocals. the waterson's first three records on the topic label are regarded as landmarks of the folk revival and this album'frost and fire'was melody makers best selling folk album of 1966. As one of the cornerstones of the genre it is a credit to the label/s responsible for it's continued existence in print and if any readers are interested in traditional english song, specifically from east yorkshire, then do the right click thing!

The original LP, a recording of seasonal songs, remains one of their greatest accomplishments. The CD re-release, featuring tracks from Sound, Sound Your Instruments of Joy, is indispensible. – Steve Winick
