track 5 error
track 5 is actually \"sweet music\"
track 5 is actually \"sweet music\"
Track 05 is wrong. Go to the soundtrack version for the real thing. I don't what this is but it ain't the awesome "Stroll On".
These men all kept putting out righteous tunes long after the Yardbirds. This is a true piece of musical history. The best of the British invasion of the 60's, other than the Stones and the Beatles.
I downloaded all the songs, and it´s worth it. But the sound quality is not god. Better on my old record player. Why can´t emusic sell records in WAV?
I downloaded just the first track ("Shapes of Things") as it is my all-time favorite. It sounds like the real thing, but the sound quality is truly awful.
I downloaded "Heart Full Of Soul" and don't hear anything different from the original, so don't let that stop you. It's great to hear all of this stuff again. These guys were never as technically proficient as Cream, Zep etc became later, but the energy still blasts through the speakers. Also check out "Roger the Engineer / Over Under Sideways Down."
Track 5 purports to be "Stroll On" from the Blow Up soundtrack. However, it's not that song at all. Instead, it's something hitherto unknown to me with a chorus that repeats "sweet music" and "pretty music" all through it. A much inferior song to the advertised one.... Save the download.
Judging from the samples these seem original, which can be an issue here on eMusic, so...Jeff Beck studio originals highly recommended here would be Shapes Of Things, Evil Hearted You, You're A Better Man Than I, Train Kept A'Rollin', I'm Not Talking, I Ain't Done Wrong. Heart Full of Soul says re-recording but the sample sounds like the original. Still I'm Sad is a great later song. The latter part is mostly Clapton era, I Ain't Got You highly recommended, and the live cuts seem like Five Live Yardbirds cuts. If you don't have any of this seminal incredibly influential band this would be a decent (and original version) place to begin.
They started it all. Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton,Ginger Baker,Steve Winwood and all the greats took off being able to play with anyone else to start the psychedelic Rock movement. Here is the basis for Jefferson Airplane, Buffalo springfield and many more. They heavily influenced the James Gang with Joe Walsh. A must have for any historical rock collection.
