One of my favorites
Discovered this group upon moving to the NYC area. They have a great energy and bring a lot of passion to their songwriting.

Pitchfork tried to keep a genuinely good band down by calling these guys "too wordy". Well, it's only too wordy if the lyrics aren't good, and this album has great words, great music, great hooks! I love it! The guys themselves are charming lads to boot.
I loved the debut album but I do think Crimes is better. In addition to sounding great, the songs are like little stories all thematically tied together. It's tough to pick favorites but West Won, Honor Among Thieves, and Old John Chapman are good starters. Great writing, great sound, and tons of fun to boot. Everyone should hear this amazing band. Don't take my word for it, try them for yourself.
I think this is a significant improvement over their debut; the songs are catchier, zippier, and stay with you all day. Think Conor Oberst but less whiny, M. Ward but with less restraint. "Honor Amongst Thieves" is one of the catchiest songs I've heard all year, but the whole album is fantastic. I was hesitant because their debut didn't do anything for me, but definitely glad I gave them another chance. If you're a fan of M. Ward, Conor Oberst, Deer Tick, etc. this should be a must download.
