.. and happiness bled...
I just love these lyrics! The cleaver words and the way they blend with the music makes these early TMBG CD's favorites of mine. Great memories of seeing them in concert in the '80's - good times!!!

I give this album 5 stars. Even if you are wary of TMBG as a "joke" or "gimmick" band, or are intimidated by their very large discography, just dive in to this album. Even if you get nothing else, this is one album that belongs in every collection. It is an amazing, surrealist, Dada-ist trip. However, I've got to give eMusic's MP3 files of the album 1 star. There are several skips all over the album. I'm going to see if they can correct it or give me credits back. I have the original Bar None/Restless CD from 1986. It sounds like crap compared to today's CD mastering standards, so I was so looking forward to an updated version. What I can hear sounds good, but the skips are very annoying!
This is surely the record Teenage Fanclub was referring to when they dissed TMBG as music for college kids. Who is Teenage Fanclub, you might ask? Exactly....
A friend lent me this album in high school, in 1987 or 1988. Fan ever since.
Not enough stars to explain how much I love this weird and wonderful album. Catchy tunes and harmony, fractured song structure, geeky sense of humor--this one make their other albums seem normal.
