You are probably missing Brad Avery's guitar. He left the band last year and he brought the 'edge" to the harder rock style songs.
It may not be their rockingest album, but that same high quality voice is there. Also the message for our time is current and needed. The track "I need a miracle", speaks loudly for this generation.
I'm a big fan of this band, but this is without a doubt one of the weakest albums they have recorded in over a decade. The guitars seem buried in the mix and in general the album just seems to drag. Seems like the band have switch from being a southern rock band to adult comtemporary. Hoping the next album sees them shifting back to a more rocking sound.
