But where is young mountain?
It's a great follow up to the Young Mountain EP that shows them stretching out a bit with a few longer tracks like A Three Legged Work Horse and The Mighty Rio Grande. On this album we find them incorporating electronic beats a bit more into the fold, while balancing that with the inclusion of subtle stings textures on a number of songs as well. At their most gentle they could be confused with the likes of Album Leaf, and at their most riotous they easily live up to their name by simply destroying. There seems to be a unifying melodic theme running throughout the album that manifests with an an effortless and patient deliberateness. While comparisons to other bands are inevitable, I think This Will Destroy you is carving out a nice spot for themselves on the cluttered instrumental post-rock landscape. For the uninitiated, I'd recommend either the album's opening or closing track to get a taste of what they are all about.
