Opposite the comments of "you go girl".... even a guy can appreciate Tift Merritt's talent in the song "Laid A Highway".... also, it doesn't hurt that she is from Texas.

Great musician. Crisp vocals with a slight twang. I'll buy her music and even go to her concerts if she comes around NY again.
Live in Austin TX
Last year I bought a dvd Tift Merritt "Live in Austin TX"and as far as I can hear in 30 seconds this must be the soundtrack of this wonderful concert.If you already like what you hear on these recordings you should "SEE "her performing these songs.Great Singer and a Beautiful Woman as well!!!
Released UK in March
Dirty old Geek is correct; it is a re-release (plus Bramble Rose) of a ltd edition recording in 2005. It's getting a full 'bells n whistles' UK release in March 2010 (I've just received a copy to review!)...but downloaded it last year. E-Music rules OK
Re-release of a 2005 live recordng??
This appears to be a re-release of Tift Merritt's live album of the same title from 2005 with a bonus track (#10)- recommend that you see the wikipedia entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/w- - - iki/Home_Is_Loud for full details of the 2005 release. Finally -- this is definitely not rock/pop music, but definitely belongs in the alt-country genre in my opinion - but no matter what genre, this is highly recommended.

every time i think about quitting e-music i come across a great album like this one. Tift is outstanding and her band is fantastic also. Laid a highway is great and so is shadow in the way, had me dancing. Tift only gets better.
