The Existential Soul of TIm Maia

robk877

Tim Maia is a musical genius, without a doubt. His incredibly soulful and powerful voice and lyrics..his song's progressions and instrumentals ...just amazing. This album is a classic and it's been on repeat non-stop on my ipod, and I just heard him for the first time a few weeks ago. If you like feel good and soulful music, Maia is for you.

Great artist

Tim Maia's songs portuguese songs are incredible. I'm not sure his english language stuff is really representative - except for "Nobody Can Live Forever" - check that out - its a great song by any standard. By the way portugeuse is a really great language for music for some reason - I've heard native spanish speakers say the same thing for some reason. Check it out.

Duped into a download

Unfortunately, the hype and story are better than the music. The songs are overly repetitive and not terribly interesting, and Maia's vocal pitch is often astray. I downloaded the album after listening to the 30 second samples, but most of these songs don't offer up more than 30 seconds of interest.

The book was turned into a hit musical that in turn inspired a forthcoming biopic. Not bad for a former lunch delivery boy… more »
