Mighty Fine

guerillagaia

Damn fine piece of recorded material. He hits the "right" notes on Saucer Crash and Spiritual and all of it. Reminds me of Smokey Hormel and Yo La Tengo playing "Old Joy" Soundtrack. Something sooooo good about this and that.

A Must Have!

BrickBriscoe

Tom Verlaine and Andy Gill (Gang of Four) re-invented guitar for me when I discovered their beautiful music. Verlaine's uncanny sense of melody is so perfect for a set like this... moody, thoughtful, evocative, provocative... Thanks to the label for re-issuing this gem. Let's hope young guitarists take a listen!

Beautifully Moody

I bought the original when it was released and it was my record of the year then. Thrill jockey has given us a wonderful gift by making Verlaine's most beautiful work available once again. Think a rainy night in a city with no one on the streets. Think of a desert with a nighttime lightening storm. Think of a deep canyon with one, lone fender playing but never seen. That's what this albusm sounds like... kind of. No one plays guitar like Verlaine and, luckily, this album shows us another part of his abilities: to be instumentally mysterious.

B&W Television

pkdick67

yes it's him, the guy who invented alternative music or simply one of the best albums ( and song) of the last century;Marquee Moon... this album couldn't be more different from Television because it's instrumental, moody, jazzy , and almost a a soundtrack for a Mann's noir,...BUT , you'll recognise that guitar ( and maybe you won't regret the voice) .. it's like getting to the same place by a different route.... i love it
