Heureka is the sixth full-length issued by German indie rock band Tomte. Named after a mythical creature from Northern European folklore, Tomte were equally influenced by Brit-pop (Oasis, Blur) and lo-fi indie rock from America (Pavement) as well as German band Tocotronic, whose straightforward guitar pop contributed to creating a so-called “Hamburger scene” of independent guitar bands, of which Tomte are considered a part. Heureka was issued in 2008 and marked the first time the band worked with a new keyboard player. – Sergey Mesenov
