Good, but not his best
I became familiar with Farrouhk when I was in London and discovered his seminal work, DRAB:ZEEN. Drab Zeen is one of, if not the best, world music/ world jazz album of the last twenty years. Ever since that discovery, I've been hoping that each successive release - few as they are - would pick up where D:Z left off. So far, this just hasn't happened. Don't get me wrong, this new album is accomplished, creative and very well done. But it isn't Drab:Zeen. I can recommend this, but not like I can recommend D:Z. If you are unfamiliar with Toufic Farroukh, seek out Drab:Zeen as the place to start. You will NOT be disappointed. From there, its a pretty easy transition to his other albums. But don't start here.
