Some good performances on here, but not my favorite live album of his. (Note that I've been fortunate to hear other non-released live albums of latter-day Townes, so that may skew my judgment a little.) If they would've left off "Coo Coo" & "Shrimp Song" from this album, it would've been much better. "Coo Coo" was not good IMO and "The Shrimp Song" was horrid. But if you get past those two, the album is good latter-day Townes, although "Blaze's Blues" left a little to be desired. I am confused about one thing: both the AMG review featured on eMusic for this album & one of the personal reviewers comments on his inability to get through "Old Shep," implying that it was because the song is so gosh-darn emotional. But it's readily apparent after one listen that he's not choking up, but chuckling at the schmaltziness of the song. Overall, the performances are good, but a few that are particularly bad sully the album for me.
