Well now I'm confused as my new computer shows a different kbps for these tracks than my last computer.

GREAT recording; DESTROYED by emusic

EMUSIC-00AFDF4A

A truly outstanding performance & recording, winner of March 2008 Gramophone Editors' Choice & 2008 Gramophone Best Baroque Instrumental awards. But emusic delivers it 200kbps VBR. The rich, deep sound is stark and flat. It is quite a shame. CD is widely available online as are 320kbps downloads. Get one of them.

Finest version of Brandenburg

Thucydides

This is the finest version of the Brandenburg Concertos yet produced. No other version compares.

Superb

A treasure and a delight. I don't think it's possible to find a mediocre Pinnock disc and these so impressed me that I bought the beautifully presented CD!

Trevor Pinnock

Excellent album to listen to by itself; it is great while doing other tasks. For a person who does not have a terrible lot of experience listening to classical music, I enjoyed it.

Absolutely sterling performance

cbeck83

This collection is without question the best I have ever heard of these great works. These recordings suffer neither from the spatial and aural grandeur with which many more "romantic"-leaning interpreters imbue them, nor from the brittle starkness that "period instrument" recordings can often present. There is a simple charm here, an immediacy and an intimacy, that allows one to easily imagine oneself in one of the grand chambers of the royalty for whom these works should have been performed. Pinnock and company have done it absolutely right. If you are interested in only one set of these famous Baroque works, this should be the one.

Pinnock rides again

ziggy256

Crystal clear impressive preformance leads you to play this again and again. Each instrument can be heard as it should. A feast to the ears that you will not get tired of. A MUST download from Emusic.

Perfect !

EMUSIC-008AC71E

For me this is the ultimate and most brilliant performance of the six Brandenburg Concertos of Bach. Previous performance of Pinnock was very good but this one is perfect. Sound is extremely good !

the Margrave's loss

ReverendCrunchie

Imagine the Margrave sat at his enormous wrting desk, receiving satchels of mail from riders from outside his borders. "Pah! another "Sampler" from an upstart composer, send it straight to the archives with the rest of my unlistened bits and bobs". Imagine the pleasure of the scholars who unearthed it in his effects in the 19th Century. Thank you to Trevor Pinnock for bringing this alive with great production values. i love it.
