Fantastic
My favorite new album of the year so far. Innovative sound, great lyrics, she is doing amazing things.

Tune-Yards employs sampling of odd dialog and slight remixing similar to The Books, but its steadier rhythms and afore-mentioned wildness puts them closer to a point between Animal Collective and The Dodos. Needless to say, as those are three of my favorite bands, I'm pretty enamored with Tune-Yards as well.
Saw them in Olympia at the Northern...They Killed IT..!!
Afrocentric trout mask replica.Original creative & personal. Feminine nurturing music with balls. Won't cut it with American Idol fans. That's a good thang.
How good this sounds. Heard "Sunlight" on XM, caught my attention, obviously. I'm blown away. Read she toured w/ Thao, can definitely see the connection, but this is much more experimental/ground breaking. Can't wait to check out more from this artist-Sister Suvi.
just had the pleasure of seeing Tune-Yards last night at the Dirty Projectors show and was blown away by her presence, creativity and technical skill. rock on!
Rappers around the world shed a little tear b/c they didn't write these beats! I saw Sister Suvi in a very small venue and was ABSOLUTELY blown away by the band. So when I saw that the ukulele player had a solo album I had to grab it. Such talent...her voice is powerful and almost an instrument on it's on. "Lions" and "Hatari" are two of my favorite tracks on the album. Just get it!
This record is pure pleasure. Amazing. If you like this, and wonder what it would sound like if it went off the end of crazy, try Micachu and the Shapes.
I have no idea where this woman came from, not even what planet. But she is making some of the most original music I have heard in a long, long time. She uses her voice in so many different ways, and she's an excellent guitarist as well. Very genuine, and often very intense. This album is a startling and refreshing discovery, and I have barely begun to scratch the surface. Outstanding!
This chick is unbelievable! She toured with Thao, who I also like. But her sound is all muddled up -- some electronic weirdness a la the Books, and Konono No. 1/ Congotronics, some garage goodness like The Kills, and some folksy and soulful vocals between Jill Scott and Regina Spektor, only with more scratchiness to her tone. The tracks I really like are Sunlight, News and Hatari. Hataris is a bit yodel-y. The other two are cold killin rockers. Enjoy.
