L.A. in the 1950's and 1960's was nirvana for some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world, who, for the most part, worked in relative obscurity in the shadow world of the L.A. Studio Community. Tutti Camerata, the arranger, worked with Jimmy Dorsey, The Casa Loma Orchestra and Benny Goodman, before going to work for Disney, where he was musical director of The Mickey Mouse Club, and produced singles for the likes of Annette Funicello. His enduring legacy, as far as musicians are concerned, is Tutti's Trombones, recorded in 1970, with some of the best players ever to grace the slide. Dick Nash, Joe Howard, Tommy Pederson, Ernie Tack, Kenny Shroyer, Frank Rosolino, Hoyt Bohannon, Herbie Harper, Gil Falco, and Lloyd Ulyate. In particular, this is one of Frank Rosolino's greatest moments (among many great moments). There's no doubt the Lemon Drop Kid was at his best around other trombone players, because he was indeed the King of the Hill in L.A.
