warming up to the crooner
I've yet to fully enjoy the croon of David Sylvian; I prefer the enchanting instrumental work he's done. "Plight and Premonition..." for example. I haven't been won over by any of his songs yet but I can't deny the dude can sing. With "Linoleum (radio edit)" , I'm impressed by the croon, thanks perhaps to the backing music bolstering. Yeah definitely radio friendly and it's soundtrack material to be sure but the lyrics and complementary production redeem it from serving a purely commercial purpose. Be good for a playlist in the company of perhaps Roxy Music, Bowie and other crooners.. or maybe i should download the Books :-) In any case, cool to hear an old school singer given a variety of new school prodution interpretations.
