Those who who found Goodbye Bread a little too tame to live up to Ty Segall’s admittedly ragged standards will find plenty to enjoy here. Unlike that full-length offering from earlier this year, which showcased his softer songwriter side, this collection of singles is as feral and unhinged as any release in his catalogue. Many of the songs on the comprehensive double-album are primitive versions of glossier album counterparts, such as highlight “Standing at the Station,” which comes in both a stripped-down form and a half-as-long, fierce demo rendition. In addition to some out-of-print songs and a few previously unreleased gems, Segall covers Thee Oh Sees, Gories, Chain Gang and Simply Saucer. For both super fans and those looking for an entry point into a stunningly prolific rocker’s work, Singles 2007-2010 satisfies.
