Boogie Boy! The Texas Guitar Tornado Returns! is one of veteran guitarist U.P. Wilson’s best dates. Recorded in 1994 for the U.K. blues label JSP, the album gives blues fans another chance to check out Wilson’s guitar prowess on a combination of his own compositions, including “Tell Me,” usually associated with Stevie Ray Vaughan, and a few cover versions, the most interesting being Jimmie Rodgers’ country classic from 1927 “T for Texas.” An excellent listen for both the casual blues fan and collector. – Al Campbell
