psychedelic? i think not

WVMMRH

i hesitate typecasting bands like uriah heep, iron butterfly , steppenwolf, fancy, the blues magoos and other rock bands as being psychedelic,as there are many current bands out there with musical styles that sound if not identical to the above, sound 'brotherly' so to speak./most of the rock bands of the late 60's and 70's can be played in the presence of any current day rock fan in his teens or 20's and if they aren't familiar with the band already, they'd not know that a band was a 70's band merely by listening/ i've got an LP on vinyl by fancy(the hits,"wild thing",and"touch me")and i guarantee that my 20 year old nephews, who don't know those songs are 70's,think they rock! i have 3 of uriah heeps LP'S on vinyl, which in combination supplies me with all of these songs, but i've been wanting them on cd format for years now.i guess this is probably the best time to do that/uriah heep is an excellent band and of course ken's vocals are astonishing.vibrato=grand canyon

assorted 'Heep

DinosaurAttack

A good taste of 'Heep's heavy psychedelic rock. Vocals, keyboards and SONGS are the focus; they rarely showboat. And if you want to bang your head, try "Bird of Prey" [UriahHeep], "Suicidal Man" [Wonderworld], or "Free'n'Easy" [Firefly].

They Say All Music Guide

Uriah Heep wasn’t really a band made for singles-and-songles-oriented collections like 20th Century Masters, because they favored sweeping, heavy-prog epics that fit into their equally epic albums. And even in those terms, they were a bit of an acquired taste, since they melded those two excessive genres — metal and prog — in a particularly indulgent fashion. 20th Century Masters certainly conveys that accomplishment, and it does contain many fan favorites, which is enough to make this an effective sampler, even if it’s unlikely to win many converts. – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
