Tribute to K Tel albums

RichYan33

This album was a tribute to those K-Tel albums that you used to buy mail order. The albums that would include something like "American Pie" but it would be edited down to 3 1/2 miuntes.

Not as seen on TV

As the previous reviewer said, this isn't the 70's original, but rather semi-ironic covers by indie/punk bands, put out in '91. Most of this is mediocre, but it's good fun and a helluva time capsule of pre-Nirvana U.S. college radio. Plus of course a few of the tracks (Trenchmouth, the Reivers, Young Fresh Fellows) are real diamonds in the rough (although Smashing Pumpkins, the one future mega-stars on the record is missing).

ladyredcat3 is so very wrong

Umm...that's kind of the point, lady. This is an album of COVER SONGS. It must have confused you that they were funny about it and mimicked the cover and the title of the old k-tel album you have...but, again, that was the point. Actually, that's almost the whole point, because the concept is actually funnier than the music is good. I haven't heard it since this compilation came out years ago, but I remember a couple of the covers were pretty good, and some stunk. It's probably a nice find if you're a fan of any of the bands on here, but it's an unfortunately crappy album over all.

OMG!! Wrong so very wrong

I have this very same LP but the artists are all wrong!! "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)" is done by Looking Glass, "The Night Chicago Died" was done by Paper Lace, "Shannon" was done by Hnery Gross and of course we all know that "Crocodile Rock" was done by none other than Sir Elton John!!! Though there are a few different songs on mine than on this one....this is definitely a knock off!! Yuck! thumbs down.

WARNING! Duplicate Album!

MDProgger

Wait a sec - this album has the SAME tracks as "20 Explosive Dynamic Super Smash Hit Explosions!" It's a good I didn't download BOTH; I would have been out 19 downloads (The Smashing Pumpkins' are missing, so there are only 19 Explosive Dynamic Super Smash Hit(s) Explosions!). A lot of these were pretty bad the 1st time, but now we have proof they really can be worse! Crocodile Rock, That's the Way(I Like It), no sense listing every track. Actually crazy covers such as these can be a riot or else drive out those last stragglers at your next gathering, depending upon point of view, the shade of collective glasses, etc. Is that..Brandy? She really was a fine girl. So do I bore everyone by posting this same review under the listing for the other one? Hmmm......might save someone 19 downloads; I guess I will. Oh, BTW, when exactly WAS the night Chicago died? St. Valentine's day Massacre? But so then, why is Chicago still alive? It IS, isn't it? 1000 characters! YES!
