The LP "Ira Ironstrings Plays Music for People with $3.98 (plus tax, if any)," by the talented Lou Busch (who also recorded as Joe "Fingers" Carr) includes this in a box on the back, "If you liked this album, you might also enjoy..." along with French language instruction and Typing 55-65 wpm. Tempting.

Now that it's a "deal"

Might as well grab it, if you've got 1 credits to spare.

I think this track was used in "The Last Wave" maybe one of the best of Australian films ever made

a better buy

You can get this at a reasonable price as a cd or digital download at the Smithsonian Folkways site, but can eMusic be so sure that these artists are not currently on tour?

While this sounds intriguing - who in their right mind would burn through 90+ downloads for this album?

Yes, Frogs

Stinky

This is a wonderful recording. You might learn some frog calls, or just enjoy it as atmosphere. BUT, I think you'd be foolish to burn through this many downloads (hey emusic, you need a better solution for albums with this many tracks!). You'd save money by buying the CD.

Quirky

My wife received this album as a gag gift one Christmas but odd as it sounds it grew on us. Not sure if it warrants using up a months downloads but it makes for some fascinating ambient sounds.

Six Degrees of Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion

By Mike Powell, eMusic Contributor

It used to be easier to pretend that an album was its own perfectly self-contained artifact. The great records certainly feel that way. But albums are more permeable than solid, their motivations, executions and inspirations informed by, and often stolen from, their peers and forbearers. It all sounds awfully formal, but it's not. It's the very nature of music — of art, even. The Six Degrees features examine the relationships between classic records and five… more »

They Say All Music Guide

Although Folkways is most famous for its folk releases by the likes of Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie, its championship of underdocumented, uncommercial sounds extended to some pretty unlikely corners, such as Sounds of North American Frogs. Fifty-seven species of frogs and toads are represented on this 55-minute, 92-track disc, linked together with narration by Charles M. Bogart. He details the variation in a straight scientist voice that will strike some as amusingly incongruous with the burps and bleats of the frogs, noting differences in sound cycles per second, possible uses for mating purposes, and the like. Actually, there is quite a bit of variation in the sounds presented, from low eerie growls to rapid-fire trills. It’s hard to imagine this arousing too much interest among the record-buying public, but for professional and amateur naturalists it’s probably quite valuable, and it’s bound to be sampled by both experimental and pop musicians, if it hasn’t been already. – Richie Unterberger
