An orgy of Llibre Vermells

PõrgupõhjaJürka

For a bit of "comparative study" of Llibre Vermell interpretations, there are several other albums available on eMusic. While "Black Madonna" is my favourite, others add diffrent notes and emotions to the mixture: the albums by Egidius Kwartet, by Theatrum Instumentorum, and by Ensemble Micrologus. And also the one by Sarband, with their wonderful and exotic Middle Eastern sound. Then there are Xavier Benguerel with a double CD, and Companyia Elèctrica Dharma, but if they are trying to somehow combine medieval themes and melodies with modern music, IMHO they do not do so very plausibly. Individual Llibre Vermell tracks can be found on "From Byzantium to Andalusia" - a most wonderful album by Oni Wytars ensemble, and "Drames Litúrgics De La Catalunya Medieval".
