Quite an Assortment

EMUSIC-0292ACF3

A compilation of music from five different countries? This kind of Variety is something you don't often see outside of Putumayo. Each artist has a unique and different style, so the songs do not meld into one another; but the arrangement of this omnibus also prevents such varity from being jarring. No song clashes. Well-balanced. Admittedly, one of the first times I've EVER kept American music in my collection that wasn't pre-60's. Yes, that good!

Grooveseeker

This sampler is quirky, surprising and well worth discovery by anyone who is looking for something new and fresh.

Fantastic and Free!

Whimper

There's some really great stuff here, as long as you have an open mind and the patience to listen to experimental sonic pastiches with instruments from the world over. The weird Talking Heads-ish final track seems a little out of place, but not unwelcome.

A Kind of Sound

Sort

This is one of my favorite labels on emu. This kind of encouraged experimentation certainly will turn some people off, but Efterklang, Murcof, and A Hawk and a Hacksaw have been played many times over on my cowon, each time taking me somewhere new. Recommended.

interesting and somewhat etherial

I am happy to have this free sampler - and will probably seek out other music by these artists. Excerpt#1 appears to begin with a digerido - although I am not a musician so I may be wrong - but the sound at least is reminiscent of digerido and also of peter gabriel's passion. this is probably my favorite of the sampler
