who cares
I don't care if the songs are re-recordings if they're played and recorded well. These versions sound great to me. Also. they're faithful to the spirit of the originals.

purplezues, you're a dumb shit!
they're not just rereleases, they're re-recordings.tracks by the original artists that were made famous but recorded sometime later(again) and released(again).these are not the same recordings which were initially aired that made them famous.these are recorded again more recently than not and released.if you had the original recordings of these that were sold on the shelves when they were first popular and compared them against the collection here on emusic, you'd notice the difference.trust me
i saw the ventures in a navy gymnasium in yokusuka, japan in 1969 when i was 12....with appropriate hawaiian-print shirt and james bond aviator-glasses....so believe me when i say i don't want no fake-ventures and this AIN't THAT! remakes or otherwise...these renditions are true to the original vibe and very-well produced. many of the same tracks on other releases weren't mastered as fully so put your money where it sounds fullest....and best. i only give this a 4 instead of a 5 because the second half isn't as strong as the first.... but if we're talking individual tracks.....then half of this is PURE GOLD.
regardless of the fact that these are mostly covers of songs by other artists (something that the ventures are known for)... the ventures are rock and roll icons. please do not insult them by complaining that they did not write these songs.
What is it with emusic that they don't have the original music for any thing that I've tried to download. Mainly oldies. Most if not all are fake. I'm actually getting tired of it all.
To be precise, these are very recent (2005 or so) re-recordings of their old hits. Some of these re-recordings are more faithful to the original ("Apache") and some are modern, overproduced abominations ("Telstar," ruined by cheezy modern synthesizers). It's not quite as horrible as some of the 80's sounding re-recordings offered here as other Ventures albums, but in no way do they compare to the originals.
they're not remakes, they were re-released. if they were re-makes they would have to note who the artists were that did the re-make.
Buckshot is correct. All of these are remakes. None is original. They were recorded for this label started by Pat Boone: http://www.patsgold.com/detail.aspx?ID=44
Unfortunately, the previous reviewer is mistaken--these appear to be remakes; at least, the three tracks I'm familiar with are, and I'm willing to bet the rest are as well.
