Despite a handful of weak moments, When the Wrong One Loves You Right finds Wade Hayes maintaining the high standards of his first two records. Hayes’ voice is deep and resonant with emotion, helping to distinguish even the weaker cuts, but it’s songs like “The Day She Left Tulsa (In a Chevy),” where the melody, lyric and delivery blend perfectly, that illustrate Hayes’ true potential. – Thom Owens
